Detention of the Dead (2012)

Hijinks ensue when a group of teens in detention discover there is a zombie outbreak and must work together to try to survive. This won't be easy since the group is made up of conflicting cliques, and the popular kids don't want to listen to some stupid nerd.

After working their way to the library and barricading themselves inside, the group goes into Breakfast Club mode with tearful confessions of inner feelings and the popular kids being called out on their bullying and self centered viewpoints.

The director states this film is as if John Hughes made a zombie film.  While there is definitely a Breakfast Club vibe, it doesn't have the charm of a John Hughes movies.  I don't think I laughed once during, even though it's a comedy horror film.

This movie has the oldest teenagers, and one even has a receding hairline.  Before I watched this movie, I thought the guy in the center with the glasses was the teacher in detention.  But no, he's supposed to be a teenage nerd.  The characters include a goth, cheerleader, jock, bully, nerd, and stoner. I wanted to like it because I'm partial to zombie movies, but it just didn't deliver.
